Job Description:
The Cognos Consultant will be responsible
for a range of functions in the areas of technical design, development,
deployment, and integration of the Cognos solutions to solve our clients’
budgeting, planning, execution, performance management and reporting
challenges.
The Cognos Consultant will support the client’s ability to collect, manage, and visualize vast amounts of data to influence decision-making at all levels. Consultants will interact with users and work with a team to develop web-based tools that present analytics and data from a data repository. Consultants will develop internet application components that enable users to interact with complex data sets, process and ingest data, and use business intelligence tools to generate interactive reports.
Responsibilities may include solution architecture development, proof of concept/prototype design, infrastructure requirements development, database design, architecture and administration, application development, and testing.
In addition, the Cognos Consultant will design, build, and manage solutions using Cognos Business Intelligence (BI), a software tool that combines all the functions of performance management: reporting, analysis, scorecarding, data integration, event management, dashboards, and more.
The Cognos Consultant will also design, build, and manage solutions using Table Manager 1, (TM1) a software tool used to implement planning, budgeting and forecasting solutions and which is often used to create interactive business models. TM1 has tools for extracting and loading data and meta-data and has a variety of tools for creating forms and reports. As part of IBM's suite of business analytics tools, TM1 integrates seamlessly with other Cognos products.
Consultants will be located in an IBM office in the metropolitan area or at an IBM client site.
Selected candidates may not need to travel for all projects outside of their metro area. However, all candidates must be able and willing to travel based on assigned project demand. Travel requirements may vary but could be up to 100%. Candidates are not able to refuse project based on travel.

- High School Diploma/GED
- At least 2 years experience in Cognos, creating dashboards, reports
- At least 2 years experience in Design, build, and manage solutions using Cognos Business Intelligence or a software tool that combines all the functions of performance management: reporting, analysis, scorecarding
- At least 2 years experience in Design, build, and manage solutions using Table Manager 1 (TM1), a software tool used to implement planning, budgeting and forecasting solutions and which is often used to create interactive business
- Readiness to travel Up to 4 days a week (home on weekends-based on project requirements)
- U.S. citizenship required
- English: Basic knowledge
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 1 year experience in Java
- English : Intermediate
